Course Overview

Who’s it for?

Our Positive Approaches to Challenging Behaviour (PACB) training supports professionals working with children and young people who display behaviours of concern due to trauma, autism, learning disabilities, or unmet needs.

The training is suitable for the range of settings including children’s homes, fostering agencies, secure units, family centres, youth and community provision and individual family support the program offers flexible options based on a Training Needs Analysis.

With a knowledge base rooted in Positive Behaviour Support and trauma informed practice, our courses provide proactive preventative and proactive developmental strategies to equip delegates to make sense of behaviour and respond positively to reduce the use of restraint. Our training embraces the PACE methodology to help gain an understanding of what children and young people are feeling in order to build relationships and a sense of security.

  • Restraint Related Risks
  • Recording and reporting
  • Reducing restrictive practices
  • Post incident review
  • A range of breakaway and holding techniques

 

Pre-Course Requirements:
No prior learning required

Delivery models and durations:
This course can be delivered as a Train-the-Trainer or Direct Delivery model.

For Train-the-trainer the initial  course is 5 days  with an annual 4 day refresher.
For Direct Delivery: the initial course is 1-5 days with an annual refresher requirement. Course durations are dependent on training needs analysis and modules included.
