Before joining the PRICE Training team, Gareth worked in a setting offering residential care, education and fostering services since 1998. Starting as a Residential Care Worker, Gareth progressed to managing a number of children’s homes and, after becoming an in-house PRICE Trainer in 2005, led on reducing restrictive practices.

Gareth was also responsible for Quality Assurance and policy development and implemented several innovations including a bespoke Model of Care focusing on the importance of developing safe, reparative relationships with children and young people. Gareth has been committed to his own development and in 2019 achieved a distinction in an MSc in Psychology, conducting a research project into whether contact with looked after children affected people’s perceptions of them.

“PRICE training has been part of my professional life since starting as an RCW in 1998. During that time, I’ve seen the commitment and dedication everyone puts into supporting staff to improve the lives of the people they support and I’m proud to be part of that. I know that high quality training is a vital tool in reducing restrictive practices and that is what PRICE offers.”
