Our Schools Positive Approaches to Challenging Behaviour Courses are designed to provide staff with the skills to understand, respond to, and manage behaviours of concern safely. These programs emphasise promoting dignity, choice, and inclusion, reducing the need for restraint, and preventing relationship breakdowns. By truly understanding the drivers behind certain behaviours, we can begin to build individual support plans that offer pupils alternative ways of expressing themselves and replace the unwanted behaviours with more positive expression and contributions.
Where staff need to physically intervene to ensure safety, we have a suite of breakaway and holding techniques, from low arousal responses to 1, 2 person holds that can quickly and safely return stability. We have also designed a number of techniques specifically for supporting small children.
